eVetting & ID Verification Process
eVetting Steps
- The volunteer ensures that all the relevant data required to complete a vetting application is included in their CRM record by logging into their volunteer portal. Where any data is missing or out of date the volunteer inputs/updates the relevant data through the volunteer portal.
- The data items that must be provided by a volunteer to enable a vetting application to be progressed are:
- First Name & Surname;
- Full Current Address;
- Date of Birth;
- Contact Phone Number;
- Email Address (personal or work). - The volunteer must also provide proof of identity by using the online ID verification process which is also accessed through the volunteer portal. Proof of identify must either be a passport (paper or credit card type) or an Irish credit card type driving licence (full or learner).
- Once the online ID verification process has been completed and all the required data is present in the volunteer’s portal, JA requests that the NVB send the volunteer a vetting invitation email. This email includes a link to the NVB website that contains an online vetting application.
- After the volunteer completes and submits their completed online vetting application, the NVB sends the volunteer's completed vetting application to JA to be reviewed. Once the application has been reviewed and is deemed complete, JA resubmits the completed application to the NVB on the volunteer’s behalf.
- After the NVB receives the reviewed application from JA, the NVB processes the application and ultimately emails the volunteer's vetting certificate to JA.
- When the volunteer's vetting certificate is received from the NVB, the certificate is reviewed by JA to ascertain the suitability of the volunteer to become a JA volunteer. As soon as is practicable a copy of the volunteer's vetting certificate is emailed to the volunteer and notification is also sent to the volunteer's Programme Co-Ordinator to let them know that the volunteer has been successfully vetted and is in possession of their vetting certificate.
